According to Microsoft, there are very good reasons for people to pay $500 or more for Microsoft Office as opposed to paying nothing for a copy of Open Office 2.0.

Right....Open Office is very close to the feature set of Office, minus a few things incuding a mail program, and a few conpatiblity issues, otherwise OpenOffice would be a perfect choice as a replacement for Office (unless you do alot of powerpoint presentations...).

PlayStation 3 delay confirmed

Sony CEO Howard Stringer confirms suspicions that the PlayStation 3 won't be released until the holiday season 2006 in an interview in Variety magazine. That would make it the last next-gen console to debut.

Took them long enough to offically metion that it was going to be delayed; in my opinon, they put too much complicated technology in. This is slowing down the development of the PS3, resulting in this delay.

AMD Is Taking Intel's Place In The U.S. Market Share!

Intel is losing significant market share to AMD, as AMD has now taken the place of Intel in the U.S. desktop computer market (at 80%)!

But it seems that intel is getting the upper hand in the laptop market, as well as the laptops are beginnig to sell more than desktops, but in my opinion, this doesn't mean the desktop will die. As long as theres PC gaming, people will still have desktops for easy upgrading, because mobile computers and gaming is still expensive and hard to upgrade.

Isohunt, TorrentBox, and other P2P sites to form coalition to fight MPAA

As you've probably heard, the MPAA has dished a new set of lawsuits against the filesharing sites Isohunt.com and TorrentBox.com, but these powerhouse P2P communities aren't taking it lying down. "Have they ever learned from the VCR or Napster? When will corporations stop fighting technology and learn to embrace it to benefit all of us?"

An interesting move to defend themselves against the MPAA. I think the world will continue to watch this, and it will be intersting to see where this goes, if the P2P sites win, or the MPAA does. In my opinion, I'm leaning toward the P2P sites. With them together, they will have more influence, and with the EFF on there side, they will have alot of backing.

Middle School Suspends 20 for looking at offensive MySpace AT HOME

Some parents questioned whether the school overstepped its bounds by disciplining students for actions that occurred on personal computers, at home and after school hours.

Now I would understand if they disciplined students for viewing this on school computers, but this is redicuelus. The School doesn't have the right to interfeare with what people browse on there home computers outside of school. If they could discipline people from viewing MySpace (which I don't like the site anyway), then theoretically, they could descipline for looking at other sites that they dont like...just food for thought.

After reading the AP news article: After actually reading the article, (not just the digg summary) a few...more important details come to light. That this MySpace profile contained threats to another classmate, involving a shotgun; the name of the MySpace group was also expletive "'I hate (girl's name)' and included an expletive and an anti-Semitic reference." Now in this situation, the school DOES have the right (at least in my school system) to suspend students for such actions. If the profile didn't have these threats, as well as the disturbing name for the MySpace group, then it would be different. The person that summarized this on digg needed to summarize it a little better, expecially describing the details about the theats, not just calling it "offensive". Just my opinion though.
