New evidence that AIDS appeared in U.S. in 1969

The patient died in 1969 of an illness that baffled his doctors at Washington Univ. They published a paper in 1984 suggesting that his symptoms resembled those of AIDS. Two months ago, molecular biologists at Tulane Univ. examined stored specimens of his tissue for signs of the AIDS virus and found that he was apparently infected with it.
